Dear Parents & Caregivers,
We have an urgent and important update about reporting your child’s attendance during the COVID19 school year. There are different scenarios please read them carefully as they all require different daily actions. Follow the scenario that your child is currently registered in.
These changes are necessary due to today’s newly released school protocol through the Ministry for detailed attendance reporting.
Please read the following scenarios carefully:
a) Scenario 1 Attending school INPERSON: You will only need to report if your child is NOT attending due to illness, however, you MUST provide detailed symptoms based on the school board’s daily screening checklist (see the link below). Furthermore, if your child is exhibiting even 1 symptom from that list, they are NOT to be attending school, you will need to follow up with your family medical provider and/or Public Health for further direction. When you call/email the school, please leave the following information: the child’s full name, their homeroom and the specific symptoms.
b) Scenario 2 Attending school INPERSON -at HOME LEARNING (ie. Google Classroom): This scenario is when you have recently decided to keep your child at HOME LEARNING through the google classroom, and/or while registering and waiting to be placed into the official Distance Learning program in November. For this scenario, you MUST report your child’s attendance DAILY to Queensmount by phone or by email (see information below). When you are reporting daily, you MUST report one of the following: My child, (full name and homeroom) is at home learning online today; OR My child, (full name, homeroom) is ill with the following specific symptoms (list symptoms, even if it is just one). Furthermore, you then will need to follow up with your family medical provider and/or Public Health for further direction.
c) Scenario 3: Confirmed Distance Learning Students: As that program begins on Friday, September 18th, attendance does not need to be reported until then. If your child is exhibiting any symptoms from the COVID19 Daily Screening (see link below), you then will need to follow up with your family medical provider and/or Public Health for further direction. As for the specific reporting of Distance Learning attendance, that has not yet been communicated to the Home Schools. We will update the information on School Day as soon as we get it. In the meantime, if your child is starting Distance Learning on September 18th and they become ill, please report your child’s illness by calling/emailing our attendance line (see below) and leaving the detailed information: the child’s full name, their homeroom and the specific symptoms.
Thank you for your diligent effort in keeping our communities and schools safe by following up with our Ministry protocol for reporting attendance.
