Today Stephen Lecce, the Minister of Education, announced that some Ontario School Boards will re-open to in-person instruction on Monday, February 8th, 2021. The WRDSB will welcome students enrolled in the in-person mode of learning back to school on Monday February 8th 2021. The Ministry of Education in consultation with Public Health officials is responsible for making this decision.
In Secondary, Cohort A1 will be welcomed back for in-person learning on February 8, 2021. A link to the full cohort calendar can be found on our website.

- Elementary students new to In-Person will be welcomed back to school on March 4, 2021
- Elementary students new to Distance Learning will be welcomed to their new classroom on March 8, 2021
More information will be provided directly to families who are changing modes of learning in the coming weeks.
What we know about enhanced safety measures:
COVID-19 testing by Public Health
The WRDSB continues to work with local Public Health regarding their approach to testing in Waterloo Region. We will provide our students, staff and community with more details as they become available.
Student Self-Screening
All secondary students entering a WRDSB facility will be expected to verify daily that they have completed a self-screening process through their school website starting February 8, 2021. Further details about the process will be provided via your school website by the end of the week.
Masks and social distancing
All WRDSB students from Grades Kindergarten to 12 are already expected to wear a mask while attending school and when outdoors when physical distancing is not possible.
We would ask that students continue to maintain social distancing and wear masks while outdoors and that they refrain from congregating before or after school. We would appreciate parents and caregivers support in reinforcing this.
As always, the WRDSB is committed to providing the very best possible education for its students and to supporting students, families, and staff during these very difficult times. We are looking forward to welcoming back our students and to seeing them again in person.
